The new ones are definitely an improvement. I always used to get my clothes caught on to those hooked handles.

@Servetus: Yes, we’re very happy with the outcome, but also understand why my parents had chosen the dark wood more than 40 years ago with a newborn and a six year old in the house 🙂
I know the problem. One of my favourite cardigans had loose sleeves that always got caught in those handles when I was in a hurry.

@Servetus: Yup and if one of the childrens custodians is the grandmother in her late seventies who looks away when the children paint on the wallpaper in the living room or make prints with sticky jelly hands in the hallway…my parents loved it when my granny did babysitt us

@Esther: Danke! Nein, nein. So handwerklich begabt ist hier keiner und dafür hätten wir auch gar nicht das richtige Werkzeug. Das hat ein professioneller Schreiner gemacht, wir haben nur die Türen und Griffe ausgesucht 😉
