YOU for all your great work over the years!!!!‘ sagen. ‚You’ll be missed!!!‘

UPDATE: Es sieht so aus, als würde die Seite den Fans doch erhalten bleiben

Danke an Kate für die News!!!

Herba, thank you for this post. I did not really peruse Ali’s site until recently but 11 years is a long commitment especially to the Armitage!! So I too thank her for her dedication and hard work for the past 11 years and I am sure if The Armitage knew he would be deeply touched by all her efforts.
Glad you still have a toe or pinky dipped in here lovely!!

A huge caesura came for me when she stopped updating, but it’s really hard to see her „go“ formally (as opposed to just disappearing). That site was an essential stop for any fan and particularly in the Hobbit days when she updated almost hourly at times. She is also probably one of the most, if not the most, mature and self-aware Armitage fan I ever encountered. She stopped a lot of drama in its tracks by refusing to participate, and her documentation was always impeccable. It’s a sad moment.

  4. Herba schreibt:

@Servetus: Same for me. Ali’s site was my go to every day and when she stoped updating I really missed it.
    In which way self-aware?
I only talked to her once in a while but she was alwaxs very kind and helpful and I really appreciated that!

Re the website: Guylty might have saved the day https://twitter.com/RAnetdotcom/status/1190921899628466176

Yeah, I saw, but to be frank I care more about Ali than the site and I think she should get her moment of celebration. It’s not that the site is unimportant (inter alia if it stays there it prevents a ton of link rot on my blog) but I find the rush to say „oh everything’s fine because Guylty’s going to do it now“ as if Ali were never there or didn’t matter disturbs me. The site was so good because Ali was so good at what she did. It’s not merely a matter of aggregating information or understanding html code.

Self-aware in the sense that she had a good sense of the role that fandom and Armitage admiration played in her life. She could get really excited, but she was also always able to keep it in context of other things. She could fully live out the fan experience (or so it seemed) without getting lost in it in problematic ways.

@Michele: RA knows about the site. Not sure if he ever acknwoledged Ali’s great fundraising for his charities over the years….
But the site might be safed so all the infirmation will be still there

@Kate: Yay! Thanks for letting me know 💋 that’s great!!!

He did RT one of her announcements of a donation once. And of course that site was the only fan site he ever followed on Twitter. So that probably suggests something.

  9. Michele Marsh schreibt:

Herba good to hear he knows about the site. I was chatting yesterday with a friend about how much we thought The Armitage was reading or if he knew if any blogs
devoted to him so that is nice to hear. Yes I hope her hard work can be saved and preserved as well as new and future projects recorded there.

  10. Herba schreibt:

@Servetus: sure, Ali absolutely deserves all the applaus she gets now and more!!!
But I am still happy if the site stays on the net like Annettes becausd of the wealth of information and as a memento mori of the good old days of fandom.
Ah, I know what you mean. That sounds really good indeed and now I wish I’ve got to know her better

I probably should stop talking about this now before I say something that angers someone. I agree the preservation of the site is important, just disagree that what was significant about that site was primarily the information maintained there. I felt the same way about RichardArmitageOnline, although I knew (that) Annette much less well; only corresponded with her a few times. I wish she were still updating, too. Anyway. Times change and me with them.

„Somehow I am sure he knows more than some might think and less than others hope“ — that is *extremely* well said.

@Servetus: I agree, that the people behind something like these sites make it what it is/ was! I guess fans like me think first about the website and second about the person behind it because we don’t know Ali as good as you do.

‚Times change and I with them.‘ Hear! Hear! *sigh*

  17. Herba schreibt:

    @Servetus: thanks!
That’s what always comes to mind when I read somewhere: ‚what would RA say about this!?!‘
    The next thing is: ‚why would I give a ****?‘ 😎

  18. Servetus schreibt:

Indeed. [Servetus laughs out loud and claps her hand over her mouth]

  19. Herba schreibt:

    @Servetus: 🙊😇😂
