Media Monday #434
1. Schön, wenn einen Filme noch so richtig überraschen können, wie es mir letztens mit ‚Nurejew – The White Crow‚ passiert ist, denn das kommt gerade heutzutage bei dem vielen Einheitsbrei, der produziert wird, eher selten vor.
2. Ich verstehe durchaus, weshalb viele mit Hallmark-Filmen nicht viel anfangen können, doch für mich persönlich sind sie großartig, wenn ich mich von irgendetwas ablenken muss.
Manchmal hilft dann nur noch diese absolut heile Filmwelt.
3. Es wird mir wohl auf immer unverständlich bleiben, wie man sich bei etwas wie ____ nur gruseln kann, schließlich ____ .
Gruseln ist nach wie vor nicht mein Fachgebiet, daher muss ich hier passen….
4. Eine der angenehmsten Begleiterscheinungen des Herbst ist es, dass die Natur teilweise so großartig wie am letzten Freitag aussieht.
Der Spaziergang, bei dem dieses Bild entstanden ist, war jedenfalls großartig.
5. Was habe ich mich gefreut, als angekündigt wurde, dass Richard Armitage mit Ciaran Hinds nächstes Jahr auf der Bühne stehen wird.
6. Viele Filme und Serien auf meiner To-Watch-List habe ich eigentlich schon viel zu lange vernachlässigt oder ignoriert, aber so lange ich nicht im Lotto gewinne oder mir effektiv das Schlafen abgewöhne, wird sich das wohl auch so schnell nicht ändern.
7. Zuletzt habe ich den Media Monday zum allerersten Mal auf dem Smartphone in der Bahn ausgefüllt und das war erstaunlicherweise sogar ganz gut machbar, weil ich scheinbar beim Tippen auf der Handytastatur besser werde.
Zur Regel wird das Bloggen über Smartphone wohl trotzdem eher nicht werden 😀

#7: very hard to type on phone keypad, you are not alone and better at it than me! The amount of mistakes I make hence my love of emojis!!

The general excitement about Hinds has passed me by; the only thing I really remember him from was the Cumberbatch Hamlet in which I thought Hinds was embarrassingly bad. Looking at his filmography he’s been in at least a dozen things I’ve seen and I have no memory of him at all in them. So I don’t get it but I’m glad to know there is a cast and that Jones and Armitage won’t be covering all the roles 🙂

@Michele: Well, Fiennes performance was part of the surprise, although I shouldn’t have been that surprised that he can do ’soft‘ so well.

@Servetus: I really liked him as Rochester in ‚Jane Eyre‘ and I am curious how he will be live on stage.
If you put it like that I feel sad that they cast so many others. RA could have had a lot more time on stage if he could have played more characters 😉

Herba I wish RF would do more soft!! Would love to see him as a romantic leading man again soon. Woman closer to his age though

@Michele: His role in ‚The Dig‘ should be more on the soft side, even if it’s not a romantic leading role at least if they stay true to the book.
Not sure if that’s something that draws him to characters but yeah, something nice here and there is nice. But I really can’t complain about his choice of movies since I started to follow him more closely, because it was mostly good for me. And best of it all I was able to see his stuff sooner or later without jumping through any hoops

Herba, that’s always a good thing then ! I know with The Armitage I still haven’t seen a few things of his early time (ie 2003) so that he is doing Netflix now and hopefully more in the future is wonderful!!

@Michele: Yeah, Armitage is the ‚bad‘ exapmle for availability of his stuff. Plus I didn’t like a lot of his current stuff so that’s ‚bad‘ for me too.
Ah well, as we say in Germany: Other mums have nice sons too 😎

Herba, yup still scratching my head over that sci fi Korean thingy which will never hit my shores nor will I watch it if it does. I am glad he did My Zoe and I love Pilgrimage even more every time I watch it. But there were some duds like Brain on Fire ughhhh
I am very happy he is back on stage now as a first time theatre goer to see him…

I try to keep an open mind but it wasn’t easy fangirling for me for a long time now I am sad to say!

Da das Kino, in dem der Film läuft, heute und morgen wirklich blöde Anfangszeiten hat, versuche ich es am Donnerstag. 16:20 Uhr ist mir zu früh und 20:30 Uhr zu spät. 18:00 Uhr wäre perfekt

When I was a teen (late 80s) the Royal Shakespeare Company would send out groups of low-level people in groups of 3. They’d come to town and play 2-3 plays but each of them with only 3 characters. I remember being absolutely fascinated by Hamlet with 3 people. My „crazy“ high school English teacher made us go — I’m so glad she did.

@Servetus: That really sounds like a great experience. And cudos to the three actors who did all of the roles. Must be a little bit of a nightmare to learn all the lines or at least it would be for me!

The plays were a lot shorter (although that’s almost always the case with Hamlet and Macbeth — you practically never see an unabridged version of them on stage, even with a complete company), and also a lot more physically active. So I also remember thinking (even then when I had more physical energy) how tiring it must be.
